I've been looking for the genuine military poncho and I've found it! This poncho is made for the elements and will keep you dry & happy!
This is top quality, stitching, fabric are durable and will last. Why 4 stars? No cinching ability. At 5'1 that feature is nice, but not required. Shock cord can be used that was a small factor. The big factor is this: Dear God these snaps are killing me! I dont inderstand why. They are sturdy for sure, but if you have to pack up in a hurry and convert back to poncho mode...good luck doing it quickly. I know there is a trick to making it less difficult, but by no means does it make it less painful or easy. Ive practiced snapping and unsnapping several times , and i will likely only use this for shelter or a groundsheet, and that sucks because the durability is unmatched. I know these are the makers patented the snaps, but many ponchos with brass snaps work just as well, and converting from shelter to poncho is second nature. Im not saying scrap the design, they are light and sturdy, but i think these could use some modification. Almost perfect, thanks.
Looking for a multi use poncho for this upcoming rainy spring? Check out the one made by Red Feather. It is plenty big to wear over even the biggest of backpacks. The 16 snaps allows for plenty of adjustments that allows your hands to be free to move around. The grommets allow for this to be used as a tarp or even ground cover. Proudly made in tbe USA 🇺🇸 I would strongly recommend this poncho to anyone that is looking for protection from the rain while hiking, camping or hunting.
You probably came here because you wanted to buy what you were issued back in the day. The good news is that you’ve come to the right place - and there is no bad news. I’ve read where some people were disappointed that the buttons were now plastic and/or that they were hard to button. It’s true, they’ve moved to a durable plastic - and yes, it can be briefly difficult to snap them until you figure out how to apply pressure and at what angle - and then it’s fast and easy. I was pretty happy with my initial purchase, so I bought another to make the two-poncho tent. Grommets and string/synch are of solid quality. You won’t be disappointed.
